In March 2020, Boyce Technologies partnered with NewLab and 10XBeta to provide NYC hospitals in critical need of “bridge” ventilators. As explained in a licpost article, the bridge machines are used to treat patients with less severe respiratory symptoms. Critically ill coronavirus patients will still need to be intubated with standard ventilators.
The collaboration between New York biomedical engineers, researchers, physicians, experts, and manufacturers is highly unusual in terms of the rapid one-month deployment. Consider that development would normally take at least a year. Boyce was instrumental in securing additional robots from ABB Robotics. In less than 30 day, our client went into mass production.
